John McGarry

John has more than 12 years professional experience in the renewable energy sector in both Ireland and the UK.
John started his career as a planning consultant, consenting small scale renewable projects across the UK, before working for developers of onshore wind, solar and battery projects for a further 7 years in Ireland and the UK. During this time John Project Managed and was directly involved in over 700MWs of onshore wind projects and established a 400MW development pipeline of solar projects in Ireland, acting as project manager for all land negotiations, and planning application consents.
John is well networked within the Irish renewables industry and has sat on working groups for WEI and ISEA.
In a more recent part of his career, John grew and lead a team of Land Agents, GIS professionals, Legal professionals and stakeholder managers to identify over 1.2GW of lands for development and secure close to 400 option agreements for renewables projects in approximately 3.5 years. John has a deep understanding of the requirements for option and lease for development, the criteria required for a viable development project, and how to respectfully conduct and complete negotiations for targeted lands.
John is from a small dairy farm in Co. Antrim and has a first hand appreciation for the challenges of running a farm business, while maintaining the land. John believes that all diversification opportunities should be considered, but also that it is essential any decisions for potential changes in land use are fully informed and considered.
George Hanley
BSc MRICS MSCSI – Director
George is a Chartered Surveyor with 17 years’ commercial property and banking experience. His previous roles include Business Development, Valuation & Advisory, Portfolio Management and Financial Services roles in several reputable Irish and international companies.
Prior to LP3, George worked to secure suitable sites on behalf of a number of developers for onshore wind, solar and battery power projects. Through his time in this role, he developed a strong knowledge of the renewable energy sector and the development constraints of potential projects.
George has spent a considerable portion of his career in the surveying industry having worked in the Galway, Limerick & Dublin property markets. He has extensive experience in providing real estate services to clients in all the main property sectors. He has also worked in both the construction and banking sectors where he would have been employed in a chartered surveying capacity. As a landowner himself on an active farm George has a strong appreciation for the concerns facing Irish landowners. He has proven himself to be a successful relationship manager in his previous roles and has a strong track record in negotiating property transactions with landowners, as well as coordinating client work and their legal representatives.
